Our free-to-attend annual event is where we welcome the scholarly community to join us for two days of idea-sharing and lively discourse, previews of future initiatives with interactive demos. Crossref LIVE Annual is also where we announce the results our Board election.
The theme for LIVE18 is
How good is your metadata? and will be held in Toronto, Canada at the Toronto Reference Library located at 789 Yonge Street, Toronto, Ontario from 9am-6pm on the 13th (with drinks reception), and 9am-4pm on the 14th.
The event itself is free to attend but you’ll need to arrange your own flights and hotels. We have compiled a list of hotels near the venue for you to consider.
We focused on the theme of
Metadata + Relations + Infrastructure = Context. We had our fullest program yet, with the broadest representation yet - researchers, editors, journal and book people, publishing execs, librarians, and funders. We talked a lot about relationships: between metadata; between research outputs; and between the scholarly community.
It was two full days packed with a mixture of plenary sessions, the results of our members’ newly elected board members, and interactive activities and entertainment.
Get a flavor of the event by listening to three of the most popular talks from 2016. The podcast includes some of our guest’s comments about the talks, including Crossref’s Geoffrey Bilder on our plans for a new organization identifier registry, Dario Taraborelli from the Wikimedia Foundation, and April Hathcock of New York University.

If you can’t make it to our main annual event, we always live-stream and make recordings. Also take a look at the series of Crossref LIVE Locals that take place all around the world to have conversations with our community around the world, with a program tailored to each country.
